TRANSITIONAL OBJECT FOR TRANSITIONAL MOMENT
birch veneer, high density foam, mixed media
4’ x 8’ x 2.5” suspended between street poles approx. 35’H x 75’W
2021/2023
This sculpture attempts to mark this absurd, unfamiliar, and perpetually transitional moment with an equally absurd response. The sculpture, strung between two street poles, high overhead, castes an illusion of a full scale ladder flying, suspended overhead. A staircase marks a moment between place A and place B. They are transitional, not somewhere to linger. Where are we ever going? How is this moment between pandemic, climate change, and the endless human atrocities, a moment between here and there?
